Zelensky Urges Greater Pressure on Russia to Accept Ceasefire

War in Ukraine

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi provided an update on the frontline situation.

"In many directions, the situation remains difficult," writes Volodymyr Zelensky on X, CE Report quotes ANSA.

"By midday alone, there had already been nearly 70 Russian attacks. Clashes are concentrated in the directions of Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk, Lyman, and Kursk."

He added, "Our forces continue defensive operations in specific areas of the Kursk and Belgorod regions," following Moscow’s announcement yesterday of the complete reconquest of Kursk.

Zelensky called for renewed pressure on Russia to accept the ceasefire proposal made by the United States.

According to Zelensky, "The situation at the front and the actions of the Russian army show that the current global pressure on Russia is not enough to end this war. Soon, it will be fifty days since Russia began ignoring the U.S. proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire — a proposal that Ukraine accepted on March 11."

For this reason, Zelensky warned that "more tangible pressure on Russia is needed to create greater opportunities for genuine diplomacy," while thanking "everyone who stands with Ukraine."
