Putin must be put in his place by all possible means - Zelensky

War in Ukraine

Russian leader Vladimir Putin must be put in his place by all possible means, including by strengthening Ukraine, powerful sanctions, and political isolation, because his policy is a Hitler-like policy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with Italy's SkyTG24, a fragment of which he posted on his Telegram channel on the eve of the opening of the inaugural Peace Summit in Switzerland.

"Today Putin must be put in his place by all means possible: strengthening Ukraine, powerful sanctions, political isolation," Zelensky said.

He said Putin would continue to escalate if he felt his power.

"It is not for nothing that his missiles cross the space of NATO member states. There are cases in Poland, there are cases in Romania, and maritime space - Russia today enters foreign territorial waters and violates foreign airspace. All this was recorded. This is a fact. These are the first steps, the first attempts. He will act like Hitler. You will see it. Because [Putin] has the same worldview," Zelensky said.

"Give him a little success and he will move on," he added.

He also recalled that Russia uses 3,200-3,500 guided aerial bombs a month exclusively against the civilian population, civilian infrastructure, "so that people are afraid and run from cities and communities and so that Russia could occupy these villages and cities."

"And this is the main goal. Just like Hitler did, carpet bombing – everything is the same, one manual," Zelensky said.
