Türkiye Vows to Eradicate Terror Threats at Their Source
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed Türkiye’s resolve to eliminate threats to its security, particularly from the PKK/YPG terrorist group. Speaking on Friday, Fidan emphasized Türkiye’s capacity, power, and determination to tackle such challenges, stating, “Nothing will be the same as before. The old order will not continue.”
Fidan highlighted that clearing Syria of terrorism is a top priority for Türkiye in 2025, as the region has long been a target of terrorist organizations. Stressing Ankara’s leadership in combating terrorism, he said, “We will, with God’s permission, achieve our goal of a terror-free Türkiye, one way or another.”
The foreign minister also criticized countries adopting “biased stances” in the fight against terrorism, calling for global unity against all forms of terror, including ISIS (Daesh) and the PKK. He noted that terrorism does not discriminate among nations and warned against using external powers to advance self-serving interests in Syria, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Focus on Regional Peace and Cooperation
Fidan urged regional nations to prioritize peace, cooperation, and development, underscoring Türkiye’s commitment to strong partnerships and proactive diplomacy. He reiterated that Türkiye has no territorial ambitions and seeks stability and unity in Syria.
He expressed hope for a comprehensive transition in Syria, preserving its territorial integrity while fostering cooperation across the region. Relations with Greece also show positive momentum, with plans for continued high-level dialogue in 2024 and 2025.
On the ongoing crisis in Palestine, Fidan stated that leaving Palestinians landless and stateless is “absolutely unacceptable,” reaffirming Türkiye’s stance on justice and solidarity.
