Albania's Glamping site offers rafting, hiking, canyon dreams
Albania's Prime Minister and head of the Socialist Party, Edi Rama, visited the eco-camping site “Glamping Albania Rafting Vjosa” in Përmet.
Rama stated that this camping site is a natural paradise, featuring wooden cabins and 10 safari-style tents, CE Report quotes ATA.
At this site, tourists can not only enjoy accommodation and fresh food, but also engage in various outdoor activities such as rafting and kayaking on the Vjosa River, exploring the Langarica Canyon and thermal baths, riding electric bicycles along the Vjosa, kayaking and multi-day camping trips from the Greek border along the Vjosa, and hiking and trekking to the Sopot waterfall. All these offer an unforgettable experience in the heart of nature, with stunning views of the majestic Nëmërçkë mountains.
“Glamping Albania Adventure” is a model that combines the camping experience with comfort — a fully ecological experience powered by 100% clean energy and in complete harmony with nature. It further promotes sustainable development in the Përmet area through water sports, ecotourism, and agritourism, serving as a gem for promoting local economies.
Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, stated, “Today, there are 800 registered guides of all types — from cultural guides to hiking and cycling.”
The managers of “Glamping Albania Rafting Vjosa” said that Prime Minister Rama’s social media posts have significantly helped promote the camping site and attract tourists.
“But how else would they hear about it, tell me? On these pathetic screens that nobody knows what they’re doing, or on portals that only deal with trash? Where would they find out?” Rama said.
While explaining the investment and future projects to the Prime Minister, investors and operators appreciated the support received so far. They proposed that canyon-parks be established in these areas — a model applied in many countries around the world that attracts tourists.
“Çuka’s channel should become a canyon-park — it would be fantastic. This type of construction should be implemented; it develops tourism significantly. A wooden platform is built — it’s a Dutch practice, but widespread globally. This area is considered one of the best,” said the campsite manager.
