A30-year-old New Zealander resident in London was fined 500 euros after taking a dip in the Trevi Fountain, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The man was stopped by police with two companions but succeeded in wriggling free and getting into the iconic waters where Anita Ekberg called to Marcello Mastroianni in Fellini's Dolce Vita and where tourists throw coins to ensure a return to the Eternal City.

As well as the fine, he was banned from returning to Rome.
