Brignone clinches World Cup giant slalom title
Italy's Federica Brignone added the world cup giant slalom title to her overall and downhill crystal globes, CE Report quotes ANSA.
The 34-year-old from Val d'Aosta came second to Swizz Lara Gut-Behrami in the last race of the season at Sun Valley to claim the points she needed to overtake New Zealand's Alice Robinson, who had gone into the event with a 20 point advantage over the Italian but skied out on the first run.
It is Brignone's second giant slalom title, after 2020.
Her overall title is also her second, after she became the first Italian woman to win one in 2020.
Brignone is the most successful Italian woman skier and her 37 world cup wins put her behind only the great Alberto Tomba, on 50, for both sexes.
