Seeded 14th, Dimitrov battled past French veteran Gaël Monfils in a grueling three-hour match, winning 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (2).
Next, he faces world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz for a spot in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard, a two-time defending Indian Wells champion, leads their head-to-head 3-2. However, Dimitrov has won their last two encounters at Masters 1000 events, most recently in Miami 2024.
