
Bulgaria Shines at European U18 MMA Championships with 10 Medals
Bulgaria claimed one gold, three silver, and six bronze medals at the European U18 Mixed Martial Arts Championships in Belgrade, reaffirming its position among Europe’s top MMA nations, CE Report quotes BTA
Bulgarian MMA Federation President Stanislav Nedkov praised the achievement, highlighting the federation’s rapid progress despite being just 12 years old. "Winning ten medals in a competition with 1,000 fighters from 36 countries is a great success for Bulgaria," he said.
On the final day, Martin Petkov secured gold in the 77.1 kg category, defeating opponents from Hungary, Slovenia, Ireland, Italy, and Ukraine. This marks his second European title after his 2024 win, alongside his 2023 world championship for cadets.
Dobromir Ivanov (93 kg) and Demis Tairov (120 kg) each earned bronze, while Georgi Savov placed fifth in the 83.9 kg division.
The European MMA Championships for men, women, and U21 athletes kick off in Belgrade on Wednesday, with 21 Bulgarian fighters set to compete.
