The German Football Association (DFB) announced on Friday that head coach Julian Nagelsmann has signed a contract extension, committing to lead the national team until 2028. The agreement was finalized in Leipzig as part of the DFB’s 125th-anniversary celebrations, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Nagelsmann, who took charge of the team in September 2023, initially envisioned his role as temporary, focusing on the 2024 European Championship. However, he expressed a deepened connection to the national team and its passionate supporters.

"I couldn’t imagine being the German coach beyond EURO 2024 when I started," Nagelsmann said. "But the incredible support we receive daily has shown we’re on the right path. Together, with the fans, the team, and the staff, we want to build on this momentum and aim for titles."

Under his leadership, Germany aims for success at the upcoming European Championship, hosted in Great Britain and Ireland. Nagelsmann, 37, previously managed Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich, where he secured a Bundesliga title and two German Super Cup victories.

Nagelsmann succeeded Hansi Flick, who was dismissed in 2023.
