Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sonmez secured a dominant 2-0 victory against Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova in the qualifiers of the WTA 500 Brisbane International on Friday, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

The 22-year-old triumphed in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0, in her first match of the season. Sonmez now advances to the final qualifying round, where she will face Polina Kudermetova, another Russian player, on Sunday.

The Brisbane International, founded in 2009, is a prestigious tournament held on outdoor hardcourts in Brisbane, Australia.
