Romanian tennis stars Ana Bogdan and Anca Todoni secured impressive victories in the WTA 500 Brisbane tournament qualifiers on Friday. The event, marking the start of the new competitive season, boasts a prize pool of $1,520,600, CE Report quotes Agerpres

Ana Bogdan (32, ranked 114 WTA) defeated Australian Arina Rodionova (35, ranked 164 WTA) with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win in just 64 minutes. Meanwhile, Anca Todoni (20, ranked 118 WTA) triumphed over Swedish player Mirjam Bjorklund (26, ranked 770 WTA) with an identical scoreline, finishing in 68 minutes.

Both players earned $8,900 and 13 WTA points. Bogdan will next face Colombia's Emiliana Arango (24, ranked 169 WTA), while Todoni is set to play Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (30, ranked 110 WTA) for a spot in the main draw.
