Serbian citizen arrested for posing as AKI official and plotting murder

A Serbian citizen was arrested on suspicion of falsely presenting himself as an official of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI). He is also suspected of planning to murder a Kosovan woman. According to security experts, such cases aim to tarnish the image of AKI and the state of Kosovo, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Security expert Avni Islami told KosovaPress that unauthorized individuals have occasionally impersonated AKI officials, attempting to harm and discredit the institution's reputation.

"It should be emphasized that this is not the first case. In the past, we’ve had instances where unauthorized individuals claimed to represent AKI, aiming to damage its image and, by extension, Kosovo's reputation. This latest incident indeed seems to be an attempt to discredit the AKI institution, and I hope this is an isolated case and not part of a coordinated effort," Islami stated.

He added that in addition to the goal of tarnishing AKI's image, such individuals often impersonate officials for material gain.

Reports indicate that the suspect, identified by the initials R.B., a 53-year-old Serbian citizen, was arrested in Fushë Kosovë on Thursday. He is accused of planning to murder a Kosovan woman under the pretense that she was allegedly working against the country’s interests.

Kosovan authorities had initiated an investigation into this case back in April of this year.
