Metsola Wins European Values Award

Romania

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has been named the 2025 laureate of the Timisoara Award for European Values. She will receive the honor at a ceremony on May 22, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The award, presented by a jury of prominent Romanian figures, recognizes Metsola's leadership in promoting a united and resilient Europe. The jury praised her strong support for Ukraine, advocacy for the European integration of Moldova and Ukraine, and her consistent backing of Romania’s Schengen accession.

Timisoara Mayor Dominic Fritz, who initiated the award, called it a tribute to Metsola’s commitment to European values and democracy. “She represents a new generation of European leaders rebuilding trust in democratic institutions,” he said.

The award honors individuals who champion European values with determination and courage. Last year’s recipient was Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
