Romanian Gendarmerie Marks 175 Years of Service
On Thursday, Minister of the Interior Catalin Predoiu praised the Romanian Gendarmerie for its professionalism and ability to manage tense situations. Speaking at the 175th anniversary of the Gendarmerie’s establishment, Predoiu highlighted how the force balances control with wisdom during challenging moments, CE Report quotes Agerpres
“I’m proud of how you have managed difficult situations, controlling your intervention force when needed, and resolving incidents with responsibility and maturity,” Predoiu remarked. He stressed that the Gendarmerie is not just a powerful force, but a wise and responsible one, skilled in negotiation and maintaining peace.
The Minister noted that the Gendarmerie plays a key role in protecting citizens' rights and maintaining public order, emphasizing 175 years of service, sacrifice, and progress. He also commended the force for handling numerous events each year, from protests to festivals, without major incidents, ensuring the safety of tens of thousands of citizens.
“You are a benchmark of calm, safety, and self-control,” Predoiu added, acknowledging the Gendarmerie’s role in helping citizens safely participate in public life.
