"We will protect Romanian companies with all available resources from the effects of the new trade war between America and Europe," Ciolacu stated, emphasizing that these measures aim to deliver results swiftly.
Ciolacu also highlighted the strong confidence investors have in Romania's economy, noting significant investments such as Chimcomplex's €100 million plant in Onesti, Nokia's tire production facility in Oradea, and Mobexpert and Dedeman's expanding logistics networks.
"Investors are putting money into Romania because they believe in our economic potential," Ciolacu said, reaffirming the nation's stability and growth prospects.
The announcement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled new tariffs to "revive" U.S. industry, with rates ranging from 10% to 34% on imports from various countries, including the EU. The tariffs will take effect on April 5 and 9.
