The Romanian Air Force has launched a new Enhanced Air Policing mission in Baltic airspace as part of NATO's collective security efforts, the National Defence Ministry announced on Monday, CE Report quotes Agerpres
The mission, which will run from April to July 2025, sees the 'Carpathian Vipers' detachment—comprising 100 personnel and four F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft—deployed alongside the Polish Air Force. This marks Romania's third deployment to Lithuania, underscoring its commitment to NATO's eastern flank defense.
The official ceremony at Siauliai Air Base was attended by Romania's Chief of General Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, along with officials from Lithuania, Poland, Italy, and France. General Vlad emphasized NATO unity and joint training to enhance regional security.
Romania’s participation highlights its ongoing role in protecting allied airspace and its support for Moldova's defense capabilities.
