Gheorghe Hagi: Sports Success in Romania Starts with Social Investment

Romania

Former international footballer Gheorghe Hagi emphasized the importance of investing in Romania’s social environment to achieve success in sports. Speaking at the Cotroceni Palace after receiving the National Order "Star of Romania," Hagi highlighted that athletic excellence begins with early education and development, CE Report quotes Agerpres

"Sports are a social phenomenon. To achieve great performances, we must invest in our society, especially in schools, until the age of 18. From 19 onwards, athletes must compete at the highest level and continue learning," Hagi stated.

Expressing gratitude for the honor, he described the recognition as a "special moment" and reflected on his early passion for football. "My first gift was a ball at age three. It listened to me because I loved it, and together with my teams, we achieved great things," he said.

Hagi also underscored the importance of teamwork in bringing results that made Romanians proud.
