Foreign-Invested Companies in Romania Decline in 2024

In the first 11 months of 2024, Romania saw the establishment of 5,588 new companies with foreign capital, marking a 13.32% decrease compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), CE Report quotes Agerpres

The total subscribed share capital for these companies amounted to nearly $17.88 million, a sharp decline of 85.52% compared to the $123.43 million recorded in the same period of 2023.

In November alone, 645 foreign-capital companies were registered, an 8.04% increase year-on-year. However, their subscribed capital dropped by 84.84%, totaling $380,200. Most new registrations were in wholesale and retail trade (35.81%), professional and technical activities (17.83%), and transportation and communication sectors (14.73%).

As of November 2024, Romania had 270,582 companies with foreign participation, with a combined subscribed capital exceeding $71.8 billion.
