Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate Celebrated as a Milestone of Faith and Unity

The Romanian Orthodox Church marks 2025 as the centennial year of the Romanian Patriarchate, a historic milestone commemorated with gratitude and reflection, according to Patriarch Daniel, CE Report quotes Agerpres

“This anniversary honors not only our past but also the sacrifices of Romanian Orthodox priests and martyrs of the 20th century, who upheld the faith during trials and persecutions,” the Patriarch emphasized.

Established on November 1, 1925, with the enthronement of Patriarch Miron Cristea, the Romanian Patriarchate symbolizes a century of spiritual and national unity. Recognized internationally through the Tomos of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and other Orthodox Churches, it has remained a steadfast torch of faith and cultural identity.

Patriarch Daniel described the Patriarchate’s 100-year journey as one of blessings and challenges, overcome with wisdom and hope. Reflecting on its legacy, he praised the contributions of clergy and laity who preserved the Orthodox faith, blending the suffering of the Cross with the hope of Resurrection.

The centennial celebration is a call to honor this legacy and reaffirm the Church's role in the spiritual and cultural life of Romania.
