Romanian Prime Minister Reflects on Government Achievements
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Wednesday reflected on his government’s term, emphasizing that, despite numerous challenges, it remained committed to its initial objectives and fulfilled its responsibilities, CE Report quotes Agerpres
"This marks the last meeting of the Government with full powers before transitioning to an interim status as the new Parliament takes office. I wanted to review the priorities set a year and a half ago and assess the progress made," Ciolacu stated.
He acknowledged the difficulties faced, highlighting that his administration acted as "firefighters" addressing unresolved issues inherited from previous years. "We may not have solved everything, but we did our best to restore normalcy," he said.
Ciolacu expressed pride in Romania's progress, describing it as a "regional economic powerhouse" with a GDP exceeding €355 billion in 2023. He noted that Romania has reached 80% of the EU average in GDP per capita (at purchasing power parity), surpassing countries like Hungary, Slovakia, and Greece.
"These achievements, confirmed by international bodies, demonstrate that this government has delivered on its mission," he concluded.
