Montenegro remains the most likely candidate from the Western Balkans to join the European Union during the mandate of the current European Commission.

Albania follows closely behind in the accession process, CE Report quotes HINA.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, continues to fall behind. This is largely due to internal political strife, according to EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.
