Greek Prime Minister and New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis is attending the European People's Party (EPP) conference in Valencia, Spain, on Tuesday and Wednesday. The event will elect new EPP leadership for the next three years, as the EU navigates a shifting geopolitical and economic landscape, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Key topics include collective security, defense, competitiveness, and safeguarding democratic institutions. The summit follows the unveiling of the ReArm program, aiming to boost Europe's defense capabilities—an effort in which Greece has been a leading voice, particularly advocating fiscal flexibility.

On the sidelines, Mitsotakis is scheduled to meet with German Chancellor-elect Friedrich Merz, Finnish PM Petteri Orpo, and Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson. Deputy PM Kostis Hatzidakis is also a candidate for EPP vice-president.

Greek officials highlight that Mitsotakis' reformist agenda and Greece’s political stability enhance the country's influence within the EPP and the broader EU.
