
Greece Signs Rail Repair Contracts
Contracts for restoring the railway network in Thessaly and Central Greece, damaged by storms "Daniel" and "Elias" in September 2023, were signed Monday at the Infrastructure & Transport Ministry, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Infrastructure & Transport Minister Christos Dimas announced a €450.12 million budget for the rail projects, to be completed within 15 months. Road restoration contracts, part of a broader €1.35 billion recovery plan, will be signed Tuesday in Larissa.
The projects include repairs to both Athens-Thessaloniki railway lines, the Paleofarsalos-Kalabaka single line, the Larissa-Volos line at three sites, and the restoration of signalling and electric mobility systems. Funding comes from €600 million of the Recovery and Resilience Fund, with €735 million from national sources.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior ministers and executives from Metka, Avax, Aktor, and Alstom.
