Poland, NATO to Counter Drills
Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk told RMF24 radio on Monday that Poland and NATO would "respond adequately" to the upcoming Russian-Belarusian Zapad military exercises. He announced that "extensive Polish and NATO drills" would also be held, emphasizing that "NATO is stronger than Russia."
The Zapad exercises, held every four years since 2009, saw over 200,000 troops involved in 2021 — the largest since the Soviet Union's collapse — and were later linked to preparations for the invasion of Ukraine, CE Report quotes PAP
Asked about potential concerns, Tomczyk noted that "signals concerning Russia and Belarus are always worrisome."
