
Greece Boosts Housing Support
During a visit to the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family on Wednesday, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reaffirmed that housing policy is a top government priority, especially for vulnerable groups. Highlighting a budget surplus driven by prudent fiscal management, Mitsotakis announced that extra funds would be directed toward renters, low-income pensioners, and the Public Investment Programme to spur job creation, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonain
He stressed that "affordable housing is a right and a state obligation," unveiling plans for a new electronic platform to help citizens access housing programs easily. A special observatory will also be set up to monitor housing policy implementation.
Among the measures cited were the refund of one month’s rent, social compensation schemes, limits on short-term rentals in over-saturated areas, the "I Renovate – I Rent" initiative, and tax incentives for energy-efficient home upgrades.
