Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a 30-hour unilateral ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, set to begin at 6 p.m. Moscow time on Saturday and end at midnight Sunday, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking with Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov at the Kremlin, Putin said the pause in military operations was declared “for humanitarian reasons” in honor of Easter.

He called on Ukraine to join the initiative, stating that its response would reflect its willingness to pursue peace. However, he warned Russian forces to be ready for potential violations.

Putin also criticized Ukraine for previously breaching a 30-day moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure more than 100 times, arguing it showed a lack of interest in peaceful negotiations.
