The United States will reduce the number of troops deployed in Syria from about 2,000 to fewer than 1,000 in the coming months, the Pentagon has announced, CE Report quotes ANSA.

“Today, the Secretary of Defense ordered the consolidation of U.S. forces in Syria… in selected locations,” said Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell in a statement.

“This deliberate, conditions-based process will reduce the U.S. presence in Syria to fewer than 1,000 troops in the coming months,” he added.
