Trump: 'Good Chance' for Russia-Ukraine Deal
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism on Friday about the possibility of brokering a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, saying there is a "really good chance" of reaching an agreement, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation: “We are going to see if we can get it done… it's coming to a head right now." He insisted the war wouldn’t have occurred under his leadership and criticized the ongoing violence, saying, “A lot of people are being killed as we talk.”
Addressing concerns about whether Russia might be taking advantage of him, Trump responded, “Nobody's playing me. I'm trying to help.”
While expressing hope for a peaceful resolution, Trump also hinted at a tough stance if negotiations stall: “If one of the two parties makes it very difficult, we’re just going to say, ‘you’re fools, you’re horrible people,’ and we’re just going to take a pass.”
U.S. diplomatic efforts continue, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and envoys recently meeting European and Ukrainian officials in Paris. However, Trump warned the U.S. could walk away from the talks if there’s no breakthrough soon.
