Recean Calls for United Anti-Corruption Effort
Fighting corruption is a shared responsibility across all state institutions, not just a task for the Anti-Corruption Center or the Prosecutor's Office, said Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean after a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Platform, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Recean highlighted two urgent priorities: stronger inter-institutional cooperation and tackling electoral corruption. “We’ve seen how electoral corruption can destroy a country’s sovereignty,” he stated, referencing past elections and warning of similar threats in the upcoming parliamentary vote.
The PM also condemned recent legislative attempts to manipulate the amnesty law, calling it a near “moral and institutional catastrophe” that could have led to the release of dangerous criminals.
Recean emphasized the need for unity and urgency in Moldova’s efforts to join the European Union, calling on all institutions to act decisively for a future marked by “prosperity, peace, and justice.”
The Anti-Corruption Platform, created by the Ministry of Justice, aims to improve coordination, boost institutional involvement, and enhance cooperation in Moldova’s anti-corruption efforts.
