Latvia Backs Moldova’s EU Path

During her first official visit to Chisinau, Latvian Parliament Speaker Daiga Mieriņa voiced strong support for Moldova’s EU ambitions. Speaking alongside Moldovan Speaker Igor Grosu, Mieriņa praised the country’s reforms and emphasized that Moldova is “expected in the European family.” She expressed hope that the upcoming elections will be democratic and pro-European forces will prevail, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Highlighting Latvia’s own EU journey, Mieriņa encouraged Moldova to stay committed, noting the economic benefits her country experienced post-accession. Grosu, in turn, thanked Latvia for its continuous diplomatic and financial support, stressing the importance of Moldova’s European path and deepening bilateral ties.

Mieriņa's two-day visit (April 14–15) includes meetings with top Moldovan officials and a visit to Ungheni to engage with local authorities and businesses.
