Russia's brutal attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, in which more than 30 people were reportedly killed, is a continuation of blatant disregard for international law, the Foreign Ministry said. Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon said Russia is disregarding international law and diplomatic efforts, as she expressed condolences, CE Report quotes STA.

"Our solidarity and commitment is with Ukraine following a brutal attack of Russia in Sumy, with many civilian deaths, including children. Russia continues this war with blatant disregard for international law," the ministry wrote on X.

In a separate post, Fajon labelled the attack a "brutal killing of civilians".

"Instead of a pathway to peace, Russians have yet again showed ignorance for human lives and disregard of international law and diplomatic efforts. Heartfelt condolences to all those affected," she wrote.

At least 34 people have been killed in Russian strikes on Sumy, Ukraine's state emergency service were quoted as saying by the BBC. The attack was met with wide condemnation, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noting that it happened as many people were on their way to mass on Palm Sunday morning.
