Romania Airlifts Gaza Patients in Humanitarian Mission
A Romanian Air Force aircraft landed Wednesday evening at the 90th Airlift Base Otopeni, bringing 18 Palestinian patients from Gaza, along with 29 family members, as part of a humanitarian mission, CE Report quotes Agerpres
The mission, coordinated by Romania’s Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), aimed to support civilians in Gaza suffering from a lack of medical care. The patients, mostly children, were transported after a medical assessment at Israel’s Ilan and Asaf Ramon International Airport.
A C-130 Hercules with six crew members, a UPU-SMURD medical team, military medics, and a liaison officer carried out the operation, which was requested by the European Commission through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Some of the patients will remain in Romania for treatment, while others will continue to Norway, Malta, and Luxembourg. The mission involved close coordination between Romanian institutions and international partners to ensure safe and effective transport.
