UK Sanctions Target Shor Crime Ring

Politics

President Maia Sandu has praised the United Kingdom's sanctions on individuals and entities linked to the Shor crime ring, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

“We welcome the UK sanctions against those connected to Shor, a result of our close cooperation. This effort helps protect Moldova’s democracy and counter Kremlin interference. It sends a clear message that subversive actions have consequences,” Sandu stated.

The UK today sanctioned the Eurasia Network, which allegedly operates on behalf of fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor. The sanctions include asset freezes and travel bans. The UK Embassy in Chisinau revealed that Shor used a Russian non-profit organization to bribe Moldovan citizens into voting "no" in the EU accession referendum.
