Ukraine Starts Talks with US on Mineral Deal

Politics

Ukraine announced on Tuesday that it has started consultations with the United States on a proposed new mineral agreement. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that Kyiv received the expanded draft deal on March 28 and that the first round of talks has already taken place, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine aims to finalize a deal that aligns with the national interests of both countries and enhances Ukraine's security infrastructure. He did not provide further details on the discussions but expressed confidence in reaching a mutually acceptable agreement.

The deal, initially slated for signing during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Washington in February, was delayed after a rare diplomatic fallout between US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, who criticized Zelenskyy over perceived ingratitude.
