
Russia Accused of Shielding Moldovan MP
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) summoned the Russian ambassador in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, after Moldova's Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) reported that MP Alexandr Nesterovschi was being sheltered in the Transnistrian region by Russian special services, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
SIS director Alexandru Musteata confirmed that Nesterovschi, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison, entered the Russian Embassy in Chisinau on March 18. The next day, he was transported under diplomatic protection to Transnistria, where he remains.
The SIS also noted that Russian media reported on Nesterovschi’s Russian citizenship on the day of his sentencing, further implicating Russia in the case. Nesterovschi is linked to the criminal network of Ilan Shor, who is also evading a 15-year prison sentence.
