Mitsotakis highlighted that this support would strengthen Lebanon's Armed Forces, particularly in maintaining national sovereignty in the sensitive region of southern Lebanon.
The leaders discussed security, migration, energy, and interconnectivity in the East Mediterranean and Middle East. Mitsotakis stressed the region's security challenges and the joint issues of refugee and migration pressures, especially for Lebanon, which faces immense strain on its border with Syria, and for Cyprus.
The Greek prime minister also reaffirmed Greece's position on Syria, advocating for an inclusive political process that ensures the protection of all national and religious minorities. Mitsotakis condemned recent violence against Christian populations in northwestern Syria and called for accountability.
In closing, Mitsotakis emphasized that energy projects of mutual interest would promote regional stability.
