
Maritime Cluster and Piraeus Port Development Discussed
The President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vassilis Korkidis, met with the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Vassilis Kikilias, to discuss the Piraeus Container Terminal's pricing policy and key development issues. During the meeting, the Chamber's delegation presented a dossier detailing challenges faced by the shipping sector, including updates on the participation of 250 businesses and shipping associations. They also highlighted studies on improving Piraeus port facilities, pricing policies, and user issues.
Korkidis emphasized that the "Maritime Hellas" platform could serve as a key driver for boosting Greece's economy, particularly in maritime innovation, a crucial sector for global shipping. He also referenced the creation of "Smart Ports" and ongoing studies in Western Attica, home to two major shipyards.
Kikilias reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to fast-tracking solutions for urgent issues while addressing medium- and long-term challenges in the maritime industry.
