Zelenskyy Rejects Putin’s Ceasefire Proposal, Calls It “Out of Touch”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent ceasefire proposal as “out of touch with reality” following continued Russian and Ukrainian infrastructure attacks. Despite Putin’s commitment to a limited ceasefire in a recent phone call with US President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy reported that overnight drone strikes hit energy facilities, transport, hospitals, and urban infrastructure, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine’s stance that it will never recognize Russian control over Ukrainian territories, labeling this a "red line" in any negotiations. He emphasized that a "decent" peace could be achieved this year, but security guarantees for Ukraine are essential to prevent further aggression from Russia.
Zelenskyy proposed an unconditional ceasefire as a prerequisite for peace talks, adding that Ukraine is ready to share a list of protected facilities with international partners. He also noted that the conditions outlined by Putin in the proposed ceasefire only reveal Russia’s intent to prolong the conflict.
Later, Zelenskyy confirmed a call with President Trump to discuss “next steps” in the peace process.
