Mitsotakis outlined several key government actions of the past week. He highlighted the introduction of the National Electronic Health Record as a significant change that will improve citizens' daily lives. He also noted that the University of York, ranked 146th globally in 2025, expressed interest in establishing branches in Greece, further strengthening the country's academic partnerships.
On the economic front, Mitsotakis welcomed Greece's upgrade by Moody's to investment grade, the fifth and final credit rating agency recognized by the ECB to do so. He attributed the upgrade to the country’s responsible fiscal strategy and progress over recent years.
Addressing the issue of bad loans, the Prime Minister noted that reforms to the extrajudicial debt settlement mechanism in December 2023 have led to a significant increase in settled debts, reaching €10.54 billion by February 2025. The mechanism will be further strengthened to assist middle-class debtors.
Mitsotakis also reported a decline in inflation to 2.5% in February, largely driven by lower food inflation due to falling olive oil prices, although energy costs have caused price increases in other sectors. He assured that authorities continue to address unjustified price hikes through rigorous audits and fines.
Finally, the Prime Minister highlighted a reduction in unemployment, with Greece recording the largest increase in employment among EU countries in late 2024. Unemployment reached its lowest level in 17 years, but Mitsotakis emphasized that active policies to support vulnerable groups, particularly those aged 55 and older, would continue.
