
Erdogan Condemns Attacks on Syria, Stresses Regional Stability
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday strongly condemned all attacks targeting Syria’s integrity and social peace, as well as acts of terrorism and intimidation, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Addressing the situation in Syria, Erdogan stated that recent clashes between government forces and Assad loyalists have largely been brought under control, though the situation remains sensitive. He warned against ongoing attempts to incite conflict across the Islamic world, pointing to recent provocations aimed at sectarian division.
Ankara welcomed Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s moderate stance and commitment to punishing those acting outside the law. Erdogan praised al-Sharaa’s inclusive approach since the fall of the Assad regime in December 2025, emphasizing that continuing this policy would undermine destabilization efforts.
Erdogan expressed hope for Syria to achieve long-awaited peace and stability. He also reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting both Syria and Gaza, stressing that Ankara remains morally and humanely dedicated to its role in the region.
Türkiye-EU Relations Enter a New Phase
On Türkiye-EU ties, Erdogan highlighted Ankara’s role in global security, particularly in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war. He urged European nations to recognize Türkiye’s strategic importance, emphasizing that “Türkiye is the last exit before the bridge.”
Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to enhancing relations with the EU, emphasizing full membership as the ultimate goal. He also criticized the collapsing global order, asserting that its founders are now undermining it.
Meanwhile, Türkiye continues its counterterrorism efforts, aiming to eliminate longstanding security threats. Erdogan also noted recent high-level diplomatic visits, including from Jordan, North Macedonia, and Azerbaijan, highlighting Türkiye’s regional influence. The inauguration of the Nakhcivan-Igdir Natural Gas Pipeline, ensuring long-term energy security for Nakhchivan, was among the key developments discussed.
