European Council President Visits Moldova to Discuss EU Integration

European Council President António Costa is visiting Chișinău today at the invitation of President Maia Sandu, marking three years since Moldova applied for EU membership. The visit underscores the EU's continued support for Moldova's European integration efforts, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Costa is set to meet with President Maia Sandu, Speaker Igor Grosu, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. At 9:50 AM, he and Sandu will hold a joint press conference, followed by a dialogue with civil society at 11:00 AM.

Moldova applied for EU membership on March 3, 2022, and was granted candidate status in June of the same year. Accession negotiations officially began in June 2024.
