Former U.S. President Donald Trump once again expressed his wish to absorb Canada into the United States as its 51st state while also stating his determination to reclaim the Panama Canal, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking at the Republican Governors Association dinner in Washington, D.C., Trump criticized Canada's trade relationship with the U.S., saying, "They get 95% of their product from the United States… I think they have to become the 51st state."

He also addressed a recent international hockey game in Montreal, where Canadian fans booed the U.S. national anthem. "Ultimately, they'll be praising it," Trump said, though he acknowledged he would keep "O Canada" as the anthem for the new state.

Referring to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a "governor," Trump said he was doing a “wonderful job” but suggested his policies could cost him re-election.

Trump also reiterated his belief that the U.S. should take back control of the Panama Canal, claiming China has "essentially taken it over" and warning, "We're not going to let that happen."

Additionally, he declared that the BRICS alliance had "broken up" after he threatened tariffs on member states attempting to establish an alternative currency to the U.S. dollar.
