Moldova Advances Plan for Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has emphasized that the newly registered draft law on merging specialized prosecutor’s offices is aimed at strengthening Moldova’s fight against corruption and organized crime, not targeting any individuals. The proposal will be reviewed by the parliament’s standing bureau and included in the agenda for the next plenary session, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
During the first public consultations, Grosu stressed the urgent need for an effective institution, stating that the current Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has failed to meet public expectations, as major corruption cases remain unresolved. He highlighted the threats posed by crime networks with external financing and reiterated Moldova’s commitment to justice.
The draft law, developed by Action and Solidarity Party lawmakers following a Supreme Security Council decision on January 20, 2025, was discussed in parliament with officials from key judicial and law enforcement institutions. A working group has been established to refine the legislative text before further debate.
