Interim President Ilie Bolojan Attends High-Level Meeting in Paris

Interim President Ilie Bolojan departed for Paris on Wednesday morning on a regular flight to participate in a meeting at the Elysee Palace, the Presidential Administration announced. He is accompanied by Presidential Advisor for European Affairs Luminita Odobescu, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The meeting, initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron, follows discussions held on Monday with leaders from Germany, Italy, the UK, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Denmark, alongside EU and NATO officials, focusing on Ukraine and recent peace initiatives from the U.S. administration. Some EU officials expressed concerns over the exclusive nature of the gathering.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) emphasized Romania’s significant role as Ukraine’s neighbor and a steadfast supporter in humanitarian, economic, and military matters. Romania conveyed its stance to French President Emmanuel Macron through diplomatic channels.

Although Romania was not directly present, it was represented by Poland, which currently holds the rotating EU presidency. The MAE highlighted that Romania remains engaged through regional initiatives like the B9 and the Three Seas Initiative and will take part in upcoming discussions.
