
Greek Minister Urges Supermarkets and Food Industry to Cut Profits to Curb Inflation
Greek Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos has called on supermarkets, the food industry, and multinational companies to reduce their average profit margins to help keep food and basic living costs low, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Following a meeting with industry representatives, Theodorikakos emphasized the government’s commitment to further reducing inflation in essential goods. He highlighted Greece's success in maintaining the lowest food inflation rate in the euro area.
"Our priority is to ensure better opportunities and higher disposable income for citizens," he stated, adding that authorities will intensify controls to guarantee genuine discounts and prevent misleading promotions.
