Bulgarian President Opposes Sending Troops to Ukraine

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev firmly opposes sending Bulgarian troops to Ukraine in any capacity, he stated on Tuesday. Speaking at the 35th anniversary of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria, Radev urged the government and National Assembly to clarify that Bulgaria will not participate militarily, CE Report quotes BTA

The issue arose after the U.S. asked European allies to outline potential troop contributions as security guarantees to end the war. Former defense minister Boiko Noev recently suggested Bulgaria should take a leading role in supporting Ukraine’s security.
