
Greek Government Stands Firm on Electoral Law and Foreign Policy
Greece’s next general elections will be held in 2027, as scheduled, with the government focusing on key reforms in the remaining 2.5 years, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis stated in an interview with Thessaloniki. Addressing the 2023 Tempi train disaster, Marinakis dismissed claims of evidence delays, accusing opposition parties of exploiting the tragedy. On foreign policy, he warned that Greece would not tolerate violations of the Prespa Agreement by North Macedonia and emphasized that EU accession requires adherence to international law.
Regarding European arms sales to Turkiye, Marinakis highlighted Greece’s strengthened diplomatic and defense position, noting the country’s economic progress and key defense initiatives, including the proposal for a €100 billion EU defense fund.
