Trump Claims He Spoke with Putin About Ending Ukraine War

Former US President Donald Trump said he had a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss efforts to end the war in Ukraine, according to The New York Post, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking on Friday, Trump did not disclose how many times they had spoken but insisted that Putin wants to end the conflict. "He wants to see people stop dying," Trump said.

Trump asserted that the war "never would have happened" if he had been president in 2022 and criticized Joe Biden’s handling of foreign policy, calling him "a complete embarrassment." He emphasized urgency in resolving the war, saying, "I want to end this damn thing."

Aboard Air Force One with National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Trump pushed for diplomatic talks, urging negotiations to begin as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to confirm or deny the report, stating that communication between Russia and the US occurs through various channels.

Vance to Meet Zelenskyy, Trump Proposes Ukraine Deal

Vice President J.D. Vance is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Munich Security Conference next week. Trump has also proposed a $500 million deal with Ukraine, offering security guarantees in exchange for access to rare-earth minerals and gas.

Trump on Iran: Prefers Deal Over Military Action

On Iran, Trump expressed interest in a non-nuclear agreement rather than military action, stating, "I would prefer that to bombing the hell out of it." He suggested such a deal could prevent Israeli airstrikes but remained vague on specific terms. "I’d tell them I’d make a deal," he said, without elaborating on potential concessions.
