Romanian President Praises Foreign Intelligence Service on 35th Anniversary

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis highlighted the crucial role of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) in national security and international commitments during a message marking its 35th anniversary, CE Report quotes Agerpres

He praised the SIE's ability to adapt to evolving security challenges, emphasizing its cooperation with national and allied institutions. The agency's intelligence efforts have helped Romania navigate complex threats, including Russia’s war in Ukraine, cyber risks, terrorism, and organized crime.

Looking ahead, Iohannis stressed the importance of strengthening early warning capabilities and enhancing cooperation with international partners to counter hybrid threats. He reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to Euro-Atlantic values, security, and the rule of law.
