The Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) has stated that it does not track the number of Moldovan citizens legally residing in the United States and is unaware of any official list, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

In a social media statement, MAE emphasized that once a person leaves Moldova, they are not required to report their location or register with diplomatic missions. The ministry also refrained from commenting on internal documents from other states that have surfaced publicly.

Regarding reports on the number of Moldovans allegedly residing illegally in the U.S., MAE clarified that only American authorities can provide official data on the matter.

The ministry reaffirmed that free movement is a fundamental right of Moldovan citizens, including the freedom to leave and return to the country without mandatory registration abroad.

MAE assured that Moldova’s embassy in Washington is ready to offer consular assistance to any citizens facing legal difficulties in the U.S. and encouraged them to seek support from diplomatic missions if needed.
